The bustling heart of Osaka

Minami, literally meaning South, is the common name given to the bustling center of the southern part of Osaka, which is located around the Namba station complex. It is the largest and most famous commercial, food and entertainment district in city, hosting hundreds of shops, restaurants, bars, nightclubs and arcade centers.

Dotombori is a popular nightlife and restaurant area than runs along the Dotombori canal, from the Dotonboribashi bridge to the Nipponbashi bridge. Historically a Kabuki theater district, Dotonbori is nowadays one of Osaka's most popular destinations and recognizable images, thanks to its joyful atmosphere and high concentration of huge neon and mechanized signboards.

The street is plagued with famous local restaurants, where one can enjoy regional Osaka food, such as Takoyaki, Okonomiyaki or Tetchiri (blowfish), usually served in a informal manner and at a very reasonable price.

Shinsaibashi Shopping Arcade

Shinsaibashi is Osaka's largest and most popular shopping district, located north of Dontonbori. It features an interesting combination of hundreds of small independent shops and huge department stores, which carry a wide array of products ranging from very cheap to luxury branded items.

Shinsaibashi's main street is known as the Shinsaibashi-suji, a 600m long covered shopping arcade where the most popular shops and restaurants can be found.

Den Den Town

Den Den Town is a shopping district located in the Nipponbashi area, southeast of Namba, which is specialized in consumer electronics, software, video games and anime and manga related goods. Den Den Town is commonly regarded as Osaka's Akihabara, due to the similar focus of its shops and target consumer, even if it's much smaller in size.
